What is your role at the YWC?

As the Family Educator on the early intervention team, I collaborate with family members of the youth who access our services.  “Family members” can be anyone whom the youth considers a support…parents, grandparents, partners, friends, roommates etc…  I provide support related to education and information about mental health and addictions, system navigation, safety and crisis planning, advocacy, and skills and strategies to support your loved one in the most effective way possible.  I can meet with family members one to one, and I also facilitate a number of groups.  One of the most important things that I can provide is a safe and non-judgmental space to talk, share and learn.

Motto or mantra:

“Breathe.”

The best advice I’ve received:

“Clear the noise in order to listen to your inner guidance.”
