My Role at the YWC:
My name is Sumi Pillai and I am a Transition Coach at YWC. As young people transition from children’s services to adult services, the systems can be overwhelming and challenging to navigate. That’s when I would step in to support them . My role includes supporting youth to understand the various parts of a complicated system and to help them navigate it. I also help the youth to plan, advocate and prepare them for successful transition. A successful transition plan is purposeful, coordinated and most importantly youth- centred.
